BWF China Open 2024 will see 274 players competing in five categories.
The BWF China Open 2024 is set to start in a day as the players will assemble for the BWF world tour super 1000 event. It is the first BWF world tour super 1000 event since the Indonesia Open which was held in June. The top 12 ranked players will be present in the men’s singles main draw. The list is led by Shi Yu Qi who has not played since losing in the quarterfinals of Korea Open two weeks ago. Defending champion Viktor Axelsen will be leading the attack as he is fresh off winning the Hong Kong Open by defeating Lei Lanxi and the pair will now again face off in the opening round at China Open.
The women’s singles main draw will feature the top six players from the top ten rankings. An Se Young will begin her title defence against Denmark’s Mia Blichfeldt. She is playing her first event since June. Young will be joined by last year’s runner up, Akane Yamaguchi who suffered an opening round exit in the Korea Open two weeks ago.
Meanwhile the trend continues for the top players from India as they have not made a comeback to the BWF tour. 2016 women’s singles winner PV Sindhu withdrew from the event at the end of August as Lakshya Sen announced his withdrawal a week back. The pair of Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy also announced their absence during the end of August.
