Born on July 5th, 1995, Pusarla Venkata Sindhu is a renowned badminton player from India, widely regarded as one of the country's most accomplished athletes. Sindhu has an impressive track record in international competitions, having won numerous medals, including a gold medal at the 2019 World Championships and at the BWF circuit. Sindhu holds the distinction of being the first and only Indian to have won the badminton world championship, and she is the second individual athlete from India to have won two consecutive medals at the Olympic Games. She reached a career-high world ranking of no. 2 in April 2017. At the young age of 17, Sindhu made it to the top 20 of the BWF World Rankings in September 2012. She is the second woman, after China's Zhang Ning, to have won five or more singles medals in the BWF World Championships. Sindhu represented India at the 2016 Summer Olympics, where she was the first Indian badminton player to reach the Olympic final and won a silver medal.
