6:30 pm: Hello and welcome to Khel Now’s live blog for the Hylo Open 2026 semi-finals round. Please wait for the blog to load!
In an all-Indian semi-final, World No. 6 PV Sindhu will take on Anmol Kharb for a place in the title match in women’s singles. Both players will make their maiden semi-final appearance in the BWF Super 500 event.
Sindhu, fresh off her runner-up finish at the French Open last week, will be confident of a victory against her junior compatriot. The two-time Olympic medallist is yet to drop a game in the tournament, while Kharb had to push herself against seeded opponents in the last two rounds.
The 19-year-old stunned third seed and World No. 12 Line Christophersen in the round of 16, coming from a game behind to win 11-21, 21-18, 25-23 before beating sixth seed and senior compatriot Unnati Hooda in the quarter-finals.
Sindhu, meanwhile, started her campaign against UAE’s Prakriti Bharath, then beat Rosy Pancasari of France and saw-off Amalie Schulz in the quarters to make the semi-final round in back-to-back events on tour. The 31-year-old has already won the Japan Open and finished second best to An Se Young in France last week.
This will be only the second career meeting between Sindhu and Kharb. Their only previous meeting on the BWF Tour came at the 2024 Syed Modi International, which Sindhu won in straight games.

Lakshya Sen will also be in action in the semi-finals on Saturday. Sen, seeded seventh, will take on Frenchman Toma Junior Popov for a first final appearance since March. It has been quite a topsy-turvy tournament for Sen, who has dropped a game in each of his last three matches—all against opponents outside the top 50.
The WR-14 Sen started his campaign against Finnish shuttler Joakim Oldorff, needing an hour to defeat the 60th ranked opponent in which he had to fight back from a game behind to win 16-21, 21-9, 21-13. Against compatriot Kiran George in the next round, Sen took lead then dropped the second game before winning the decider to advance.
He faced another Finnish opponent, Kalle Koljonen, in the quarter-finals and once again had to recover from a game deficit to win.
In contrast, Popov has dropped only one game so far. He brushed aside compatriot Arnaud Markle 21-14, 21-15 in the previous round and will chase a fourth final appearance of the season. He finished runner-up at the German Open, Orleans Masters and China Open.
Sen reached the final at the All England Open, where he lost to Taipei’s Lin Chun-yi. The Indian is a former champion at Hylo Open, having clinched in 2019. Popov reached the final here in 2024, beaten by brother Christo Popov in straight games.
