India is through to the last eight at the Asian Games 2026
The Indian men’s badminton team secured an emphatic 3-0 win against Bangladesh in their first-round fixture in the men’s team event at the Asian Games 2026 at the Ichinomiya City Municipal Gymnasium in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, on Monday, September 21, 2026.
Lakshya Sen, Ayush Shetty, and Srikanth Kidambi won their singles ties in straight games, wrapping up the fixture without the need for the doubles matches.
India began the match on the front foot, with Sen completely dominating world No. 375 Ayman Ibn Jaman. The Indian shuttler raced to a 21-4, 21-12 victory in the first singles match.
Shetty then faced world No. 589 Gourab Singha, but the young Bangladeshi shuttler lost 21-4, 21-13, giving India a massive advantage heading into the crucial third singles match. There, former world No. 1 Srikanth took on Jumar Al-Amin, winning 21-15, 21-9 in just nine minutes.

The Indian men’s team will now face Japan in the quarter-finals, which will take place on Tuesday. The hosts beat Uzbekistan 3-0 in their first-round clash.
The Indian women’s team beat Kazakhstan 3-0 in their first-round fixture, also setting up a quarter-final clash against Japan.
