Full list of players who have withdrawn from Macau Open 2025

Indonesia’s Anthony Ginting withdraws from the Macau Open 2025.

As the Macau Open 2025 nears its start on July 29, several notable players have withdrawn from the BWF Super 300 event. While the tournament is expected to showcase rising talents and seasoned pros, these withdrawals may shift the draw dynamics in multiple categories.

In men’s singles, Hong Kong’s Lee Cheuk Yiu headlines the draw as the top seed. China’s Olympic gold medalist Chen Yufei will lead the women’s singles field, aiming to add another title to her resume.

Indonesia’s Daniel Marthin and Leo Rolly Carnando, popularly known as the Minions 2.0, are seeded second in men’s doubles, while compatriots Gutama and Ifsahani occupy the top spot. Malaysia’s Chen Tang Jie and Toh Ee Wei lead the mixed doubles field.

In men’s singles, Indonesia’s Anthony Sinisuka Ginting has withdrawn under a protected ranking status, while India’s Priyanshu Rajawat and Finland’s Kalle Koljonen have also pulled out. Ginting’s absence, in particular, removes a major contender from the race.

Anthony Sinisuka Ginting’s return to the circuit hasn’t been smooth after a six-month layoff due to a shoulder injury. The Indonesian shuttler last played in January at the Malaysia Open, where he lost in the Round of 16 to current World No. 1 Kunlavut Vitidsarn.

Making his comeback at the Japan Open 2025, Ginting suffered a straight-games loss to Japan’s Kodai Naraoka (13–21, 19–21). His struggles continued at the China Open, where he lost to Canada’s Brian Yang in three games (21–9, 16–21, 14–21).

In women’s singles, Ukraine’s Polina Buhrova, Canada’s Wen Yu Zhang, Myanmar’s Thet Htar Thuzar, and Hong Kong’s Wong Ling Ching will not be competing, altering the mid-tier contest significantly.

Men’s doubles sees the withdrawal of Chinese Taipei pairs Bo-Yuan Chen / Ming Che Lu and Indonesia’s Dicky Dwi Pangestu / Agil Gabilov, leaving open spots for younger or unseeded pairs to shine.

Women’s doubles features six pair withdrawals, including strong duos like Korea’s Lee Yeon Woo / Jeong Na Eun and China’s Zhang Shu Xian / Bao Li Jing. Hong Kong’s Fu Chi Yan / Leung Yuet Yee, Ukraine’s Polina Buhrova / Yevheniia Kantemyr, Australia’s Angela Yu / Gronya Somerville, and India’s Kavipriya Selvam / Simran Singhi have also pulled out.

Mixed doubles also sees key exits. Korea’s Ki Dong Ju / Jeong Na Eun, Thailand’s Pakkapon Teeraratsakul / Sapsiree Taerattanachai, and Chinese Taipei’s Bo-Yuan Chen / Liang Ching Sun are notable names missing.

Denmark’s top-10 pair Jesper Toft / Amalie Magelund, Taipei’s Yang Po-Hsuan / Hu Ling Fang, and Hong Kong’s Lui Chun Wai / Fu Chi Yan will also not feature in the draw.

The withdrawal of these players opens up opportunities for lower-ranked players and qualifiers to advance in the tournament.
