All you need to know about new coaches in Indian badminton senior team

Tan Kim Her and Irwansyah Adi Pratama are the new coaches of the Indian badminton senior team.
Coaches play an important role in establishing the player. They are an integral part of the athlete’s career. The Badminton Association of India has recently got some new foreign coaches after the disappointing Olympic Campaign.
Tan Kim Har of Malaysia, who was the former coach of Satwik/Chirag, is back with the team and will coach the doubles department. On the other hand, Irwansyah Adi Pratama from Indonesia will be the singles coach.

Let’s take a look at the two new coaches of the Indian badminton senior team.
Tan Kim Her (Malaysia)
The Malaysia coach Tan Kim Her is all set for his second stint as a coach of Indian badminton. Tan Kim Her, previously worked with India from 2015-2019. He was the one who identified Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy‘s potential and paired them together and now they are one of the best pairs in the world. After his first stint with India was over he moved to Japan.
Under his guidance, the Japanese duo of Takuro Hoki and Yugo Kobayashi were crowned world champions in 2021. Now he is back in India we can accept a great turnaround in the doubles section. His main aim will be to increase our double pool before the next Asian Games. He has already arrived in India and has started coaching our doubles pair.

Just like he had created Satwik and Chirag we can expect him to make more talented and promising pairs. Other doubles pairs like Treesa/Gayatri and Dhruv/Tanisha will also benefit from Tan. With the Sudirman Cup this year, it’s important for our doubles pair to click. Tan Kim Her, has arrived in India and has been seen coaching the Indian doubles pair.
Irwansyah Adi Pratama (Indonesia)
The Indonesian coach Irwansyah is set to be India’s singles coach. He was previously Indonesia’s men’s singles coach and has worked with Jonathan Christie and Anthony Sinisuka Ginting. His contract with the Indonesia (PBSI) ended in December and he didn’t renew the contract. However, BAI has not given any official information regarding the recruitment of Irwansyah as the sole coach.
In an Interview with the Local Media, Irwansyah said “I have accepted the offer from India. He also informed the local media (Okezone) that “I wanted to try a new challenge and seek new experience living abroad with my wife and Child”.

He decided to leave Indonesia because he faced some problems during his work in Indonesia Badminton. This will be Irwansyah’s first coaching stint outside India and he will help our singles player to remain consistent in the World Tour. However, the date of joining is not yet known and we can hope that Irwansyah join the Indian coaching set-up soon.
Both Irwansyah and Tan Kim Her have a great in-depth knowledge of the game and One can expect the rise of Indian players under their leadership and guidance. In an article from TOI, it has been learned that both coaches will be paid approx 8 lakhs 58 thousand ($10,000) per month by Sports Authority of India (SAI).
