This year’s finals, scheduled in Hangzhou from December 17-21, will witness a prize money of $3 million. It is the final tournament of the 2025 BWF World Tour calendar.
The Finals were originally planned for December 10-14 but were shifted back by a week due to necessary venue rescheduling.

Qualification criteria
The top eight players or pairs in each category will qualify based on their BWF World Tour rankings. However, there’s a special rule according to which not more than two players/pairs from each country or association in each category can qualify for the year-end finals.
The World Tour Rankings are based on the tournaments held in the season. These are divided into five levels: Level 1 – World Tour Finals, Level 2 – Super 1000 (4 tournaments), Level 3 – Super 750 (6 tournaments), Level 4 – Super 500 (9 tournaments) and Level 5 – Super 300 (11 tournaments).

Players earn their spots by performing well in tournaments throughout the year. They can count their best 14 tournament results, with a limit of three results from the Super 100 tournaments.
Unlike the 2024 edition, where reigning Olympic title holders were granted a place in the finals, this year, reigning World Champions automatically qualify for the tournament.
As a result, players such as Shi Yu Qi, Akane Yamaguchi, as well as pairs like Kim Won Ho/Seo Seung Jae, Liu Sheng Shu/Tan Ning, and Chen Tang Jie/Toh Ee Wei, have qualified even if they fail to meet the qualification requirements of being in the top #8 rankings.
If players have the same ranking, the selection will depend on the number of BWF World Tour tournaments they have participated in, and the points earned in those tournaments from July 1 of that year onward. The final qualification tournament will be the last Super-level event before the Finals.
From December 17 to 21, Hangzhou will be the center of the badminton world. The tournament brings together players who have fought hard all year, each hoping to be crowned the ultimate champion. Without further ado, let’s take a look at the full list of players who have made the season finale in Hangzhou.
