The BWF French Open 2025 is set to unfold from October 21 to 26 at the Glaz Arena, Chemin du Bois de la Justice, Cesson-Sevigne, France. The opening two days will see first-round action, followed by the later rounds starting October 23 as the race toward the World Tour Finals heats up.

A marquee event on the BWF Super 750 calendar, the French Open 2025 brings together many of badminton’s elite names, despite a few major withdrawals.

With USD 950,000 (approx 8,33,61,000 INR) in prize money and vital ranking points at stake, the competition remains one of the most anticipated stops on the World Tour.

Following Shi Yuqi’s withdrawal, Denmark’s Anders Antonsen takes charge as the top seed in men’s singles, while South Korea’s An Se-young, the reigning World and Olympic Champion, leads the women’s field.

French stars Alex Lanier and Christo Popov, seeded seventh and eighth respectively, will look to make an impact in front of their home supporters.

India enters with a strong lineup led by Lakshya Sen and Ayush Shetty in men’s singles, alongside a young women’s squad featuring Unnati Hooda, Anupama Upadhyaya, and Anmol Kharb.

The spotlight, however, will once again be on Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty, the defending champions and sixth seeds in men’s doubles, as they aim to retain their title.

French Open 2025: Points on offer

As mentioned above, points are awarded as per all Super 750 events. The winner will get 11,000 points, while the runner-up will get 9,350 points.

Players reaching the semi-finals will get 7,700 points, while players losing in the quarterfinals will get 6,050 points. A second-round finish assures a player/pair of 4,320, while a first-round loss will mean 2,660 points.

French Open 2025: Prize Pool

The total prize pool for the French Open 2025 stands at USD 950,000 (approx 8,33,38,180 INR). In both the men’s and women’s singles categories, the champions will each take home USD 66,500 (approx 58,34,792 INR), while the winners of the doubles events will earn USD 70,300 per pair.

The finalists in singles will receive USD 32,300, and their doubles counterparts will pocket USD 33,250. For reaching the semi-finals, players across all categories are guaranteed USD 13,300. Quarter-finalists will earn USD 5,225 in singles and USD 5,937.50 in doubles.

Those who exit in the Round of 16 will still be rewarded with USD 2,850 in singles and USD 3,087.50 in doubles, while even first-round participants are assured of USD 950. This ensures that every player in the main draw walks away with a share of the prize fund.
