BWF Japan Masters 2025

The total prize pool of BWF Japan Masters 2025 is USD 475,000.

The BWF Japan Masters 2025 will be played from November 11 to 16 at the Kumamoto Prefectural Gymnasium, marking the 35th event of the BWF World Tour this season.

As a Super 500 tournament, it arrives at a critical point in the calendar, with players fighting for the final ranking points before the season-ending World Tour Finals.

This year’s edition has been heavily reshaped by withdrawals, with top contenders Anders Antonsen and Viktor Axelsen pulling out, alongside several other high-profile names across categories. Despite this, the tournament still features strong headliners.

Jonatan Christie who recently won the Denmark Open by defeating Shi Yuqi in the finals has also withdrawn from the Kumamoto Japan Masters 2025.

Meanwhile, Kunlavut Vitidsarn leads the men’s singles field as the top seed, while home favourite Akane Yamaguchi, who won the Korea Open 2025 defeating home favourite An Se-young in the final, tops the women’s singles draw.

The men’s section remains competitive, with names like Kodai Naraoka, Chou Tien-chen, and Loh Kean Yew poised to challenge for the title. Meanwhile, the women’s draw is anchored by Japan’s deep bench, including Tomoka Miyazaki, though several notable international players have withdrawn.

Indian participation is substantial but disrupted. Lakshya Sen spearheads the men’s singles lineup, supported by Ayush Shetty, HS Prannoy, Kiran George, and Tharun Mannepalli. In mixed doubles, Rohan Kapoor / Ruthvika Shivani Gadde carry India’s hopes.

On the other hand, major names like PV Sindhu and Kidambi Srikanth, along with the top duo of Satwik-Chirag, have withdrawn, significantly altering India’s overall strength.

With depleted fields in several categories, the tournament offers a rare window for lower-ranked players to push deeper than usual. For others still in the World Tour Finals race, the Kumamoto Masters becomes a must-deliver week.
