The 17th edition of the BWF Macau Open is being played from July 29 to August 3 at the Macao East Asian Games Dome in Macau. Qualification and first-round matches will be played on the first two days, while further round matches will begin on July 31. The finals will be played on August 3.
As a Super 300 tournament on the BWF World Tour circuit, it offers significant ranking points and prize money, attracting many top international badminton stars. With a prize pool of US$370,000, the tournament serves as a key event in the BWF circuit.
Hong Kong’s Lee Cheuk Yiu leads the men’s singles field as the top seed, while Olympic gold medallist Chen Yufei headlines the women’s singles draw. In men’s doubles, Indonesia’s Sabar Karyaman Gutama and Moh Reza Pahlevi Isfahani are the top-seeded pair.
China’s Chen Qing Chen and Keng Shu Liang lead the women’s doubles, and Malaysia’s Chen Tang Jie and Toh Ee Wei enter as the top seeds in mixed doubles.
Indian participation at the Macau Open 2025 will be headlined by Lakshya Sen, who enters the tournament as the second seed in men’s singles. He will be joined by HS Prannoy, Ayush Shetty, Kiran George, Sathish Kumar Karunakaran, and Tharun Mannepalli, making it a strong Indian contingent in the men’s singles draw.
In women’s singles, Unnati Hooda leads the charge, accompanied by Rakshitha Sree, Anupama Upadhyaya, and Aakarshi Kashyap, all promising names capable of springing surprises.
Men’s doubles stars Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy will return to action as the top Indian pair, while Hariharan Amsakarunan/Ruban Kumar Rethinasabapathi and Sai Pratheek K./Pruthvi Krishnamurthy Roy will also be in contention.
Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand will represent India in women’s doubles, while Shruti Mishra and Priya Konjengbam also feature in the draw. In mixed doubles, Dhruv Kapila and Tanisha Crasto form the top Indian pairing, with Rohan Kapoor/Gadde Ruthvika Shivani and Sathish Kumar Karunakaran/Aadya Variyath also participating.

As per BWF regulations, the total prize pool for the Macau Open 2025 is USD 370,000. The distribution of prize money across categories is outlined below. The winners in the singles events will receive USD 27,750, while the champions in the doubles categories will take home USD 29,230 per pair.
The runners-up across all five categories will earn USD 14,060 each. The losing semi-finalists in singles will receive USD 5,365, and those in the doubles events will be awarded USD 5,180.
Quarter-finalists in the singles events will be granted USD 2,220, while doubles quarter-finalists will earn USD 2,682.50. Players exiting in the Round of 16 will receive USD 1,295 in singles and USD 1,387.50 in doubles.
