Sindhu will end the season without a title or final appearance.

For the last two months, Indian badminton fans have been waiting for their star PV Sindhu to return to the court. Unfortunately, the wait will now stretch a little longer. The two-time Olympic medallist has announced that she will not compete again for the rest of 2025.

Sindhu, who had already skipped major tournaments such as the Denmark Open and French Open due to a foot injury sustained ahead of the European Tour, shared the news on Monday through a post on social media.

“After consulting closely with my team and with the guidance of the incredible Dr. Pardiwala, we felt it was best for me to withdraw from all remaining BWF Tour events in 2025,” Sindhu wrote.

“The foot injury I sustained before the European leg has not fully recovered, and while it is never easy to accept, injuries are an inseparable part of every athlete’s journey. They test your resilience and patience, but they also spark the fire to come back stronger,” she added.

The 30-year-old who didn’t go beyond the quarterfinals in any BWF tournament this year is now focused fully on recovery and rebuilding, supported by a strong medical and coaching team around her.

“Recovery and training are already in motion. Under the constant care of Dr Wayne Lombard, the support of Nisha Rawat and Chetna, and the guidance of my coach Irwansyah, I am surrounded by a team that gives me strength every single day,” she said.

“Their belief in me fuels my own, and I feel motivated, grateful, and hungrier than ever for what lies ahead. Thank you all for your endless love and support, it truly means more than words can express. The journey continues soon.”

The last time Sindhu was seen in action was at the BWF China Masters 2025 in September, where the Indian reached the quarter-finals before suffering a heartbreaking loss to current World No. 1 An Se Young.

The year has been a challenging one for the five-time World Championships medallist, who managed just three quarter-final finishes—China Masters, India Open, and World Championships—and will finish without a title in the 2025 season.

Her withdrawal now means Sindhu will also miss the upcoming Hylo Open in Germany, the Korea Masters, the Japan Masters, and the Syed Modi India International, the same tournament where she ended her three-year title drought in 2024 in Lucknow, winning her first crown since the 2022 Commonwealth Games injury setback.

Why has PV Sindhu ended her 2025 season early?

PV Sindhu decided to end her 2025 season early due to a foot injury she sustained ahead of the European Tour. Despite treatment and rest, the injury has not fully healed, prompting her to withdraw from all remaining BWF Tour events this year.

Which tournaments will PV Sindhu miss?

Sindhu’s withdrawal means she will miss the Hylo Open (Germany), Korea Masters, Japan Masters, and the Syed Modi India International — the same tournament she won in 2024 to end her three-year title drought.

When did PV Sindhu last play a competitive match?
