A week after the disappointing runners-up finish in Thailand, India’s top doubles pair Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty are back in the final at BWF World Tour. Satwik-Chirag will face World No. 3 pair Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Shohibul Fikri for the men’s doubles title at Singapore Open 2026.
At the Thailand Open last week, Satwik-Chirag—ranked World No. 4 on Tour—lost in straight games to another Indonesian duo Leo Rolly Carnando/Daniel Marthin, their first-ever loss to the pair.
The Indian pair will eye a better performance in Singapore against an opponent, with whom they are 1-2 behind on head-to-head records.
Satwik-Chirag reached the final after stunning World No. 1 and top seeds Kim Won Ho/Seo Seung Jae of South Korea in straight games on Saturday. The Indian duo seeded fourth defeated the reigning world champions 21-19, 21-18 in 52 minutes.
Satwik-Chirag’s best performance in the BWF Super 750 event came in the 2025 edition when they reached the semis. They were beaten by Malaysia’s Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik in three games.
Should they win the title, Satwik-Chirag will become only the second Indians to lift the title at the Singapore Open. B Sai Pratheek is the only Indian to win the title previously, having done so in 2017. Saina Nehwal (2010) and PV Sindhu (2022), who both finished runner-ups, are the only other Indians to reach the final.

The men’s doubles final will be played at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang on May 31 (Sunday). It has a tentative start time of 4 pm IST.
