Tournament history of Badminton Asia Junior Mixed Team Championships 2025

The mixed team format in badminton began in 2006. Prior to that, separate men’s and women’s team competitions were held. South Korea emerged as the winner of the inaugural edition in 2006, defeating Malaysia in the final.

That 2006 batch saw the rise of legends like Lee Yong-dae and Son Wan-ho, who went on to become key players for South Korea.

Since then, China has dominated the mixed team event, having won a record nine titles, the most by any nation. South Korea, Malaysia, and Japan are the only nations to win the title apart from China—all three nations have won two titles each.

China are also the defending champion and will be looking to defend their title.

India’s best performance in the mixed team event came in 2011, where they won a bronze medal. The 2011 batch featured Srikanth Kidambi and PV Sindhu, who played the crucial role in securing the medal and later became the top players for the country.

In the 2024 edition, India lost to Malaysia (2-3) in the quarter-finals and just missed out on the medal.
