The BWF World Tour moves to Oceania as the Sathio Group Australian Open 2026 gets underway on June 9. The Super 500 tournament will be held at the State Sports Centre in Sydney and offers a total prize pool of USD 500,000.

Several top international shuttlers are set to compete despite the absence of many elite stars following the Southeast Asian leg of the tour. In men’s singles, Chinese Taipei’s Chou Tien-chen and Lin Chun-yi headline the field alongside Indonesia’s rising star Alwi Farhan, Hong Kong’s Lee Cheuk Yiu and Japan’s Yushi Tanaka.

The women’s singles draw features former world champions Akane Yamaguchi and Nozomi Okuhara, Thailand’s Pornpawee Chochuwong and Supanida Katethong, and India’s P. V. Sindhu, who enters the tournament as the third seed.

As a Super 500 event, players will compete for valuable ranking points in the race for the BWF World Tour Finals, alongside a total prize purse of US$500,000.
