Anmol Kharb and Chirag Sen will aim to retain their singles title.

The 77th Inter-State-Inter-Zonal and 86th Senior National Badminton Championship 2024 will take place at the Karnataka Badminton Stadium, Jasma Bhavan Road, Vasanthnagar, Bengaluru, from December 18 to December 24. The tournament is set to be held in two phases.

The first phase, the Inter-State–Inter-Zonal team competition, will run from December 18 to 19. The second phase, featuring individual competitions, will be held from December 20 to 24.

Defending champions Anmol Kharb and Chirag Sen in men’s and women’s singles respectively will look to retain their titles. As far as doubles are concerned Dhruv/Tanisha will look to grab the mixed doubles title once again. However, the defending champions in the men’s and women’s team events, the Airport Authority of India and Maharashtra, failed to qualify for the knockouts and will not be able to defend their titles.

Some big names that are participating in the senior nationals this year are Priyanshu Rajawat, Kiran George, Malvika Bansod Dhruv Kapila and Tanisha Crasto. The players to watch out for the 2024 Senior nationals are the defending Champion Anmol Kharb, 2023 finalist Tanvi Sharma, Shriyanshi Valishetty, Rakshita Santosh Ramraj and Unnati Hooda.

In the men’s singles along with Priyanshu and Kiran, there are also promising names like 2023 Jr World Championship bronze medalist Ayush Shetty, 2024 Jr World Championship Quarterfinalist Pranay Shettigar as well as a young talent in 17-year-old, Rounak Chouhan.

In men’s doubles, Bhavya Chabra/Param Chaudhary, and Bhargav Ram Arigela/Viswa Tej Gobburu are the ones to look out for as they have recently impressed in the BWF World Junior Championships. Both are quite young as well, so it will be interesting to see how they perform in this tournament. Bhargav will also play mixed doubles with Vennala Kalagota and they will also be a pair to watch out for.

The 77th Inter-State-Inter-Zonal competition will be held from 18-19 December. The 86th Senior National Badminton Championships will be held from 20-24 December. Both tournaments will take place at Karnataka Badminton Stadium, Jasma Bhavan Road, Vasanthnagar, Banglore

Last year the Senior Badminton Nationals was streamed live on the Badminton Power Games YouTube channel. However, the BAI is yet to announce a streaming partner for this edition. More info will be added once available.
