The BWF World Tour moves to Taipei for the 43rd edition of the Taipei Open, a Super 300 event carrying a total prize pool of $240,000.

Coming right after the China Open, this tournament gives players who are still building form throughout the season a chance to earn ranking points before the calendar gets busier heading into the World Championships.

Defending champion Loh Kean Yew will not be back to defend his men’s singles crown, having withdrawn ahead of the event. That opens things up nicely for Chinese Taipei’s own Chou Tien-chen, who arrives as the top seed fresh off a Super 100 title in China.

Reigning All England champion Lin Chun-yi and players such as Chi Yu-jen and Lee Chia Hao in men’s singles and Lin Hsiang-ti and Huang Yu-hsun in women’s singles will also look to capitalise on the home advantage and aim to make a podium finish at the event.
