The FIBA Olympic Pre-Qualifying Tournament Asia 2023 is scheduled to be held from August 12 to August 17, 2023, in Damascus, Syria. The Indian basketball team return FIBA Olympic Pre-Qualifying Tournament Asia 2023to international Competition after suspension of Four Months by FIBA, the World governing body of Basketball. A total of six teams — India, Bahrain, Kazakhstan, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia and Syria — are competing in the tournament.

Initially, Republic of Korea and Chinese Taipei were also part of the competition, but later pulled out citing security concerns and doubt of travelling to a violence-hit Syria. Their withdrawn forced a change in schedule.

Earlier, eight teams were divided into two groups. India were in Group A alongside Taipei, Korea and Bahrain. However, with Taipei and Korea withdrawing, all six participating teams will play each other once. The team that finishes on top will then advance to the final round — FIBA Olympic qualifiers, scheduled for 2024.
