Both Australia and China are unbeaten in the competition and will hope to produce a strong showing to claim the title. Australia are the two-time defending champion, while China—the most successful team in the tournament history—last won the title in 2015.

Australia’s route to FIBA Asia Cup 2025 final 

The defending champions were slotted in Group A along with Qatar, South Korea, and Lebanon. In their first fixture, they prevailed over South Korea 97-61, kicking off their campaign with a dominating victory. The Aussies then followed it with a 93-80 victory over Lebanon in the second fixture. They ended the league stage in style with a 110-82 win over Qatar.

In the quarter-finals, Australia defeated the Philippines 84-60 to confirm their place in the semis. Then, Australia marched into the final with a commanding 92-48 victory over Iran in their semi-final encounter.

China’s route to FIBA Asia Cup 2025 final 

China were pitted alongside India, Saudi Arabia, and Jordan in Group C. They secured a thrilling 93-88 victory over Saudi Arabia in their first league stage encounter and registered a convincing 100-69 against India. The 16-time champions continued their momentum with a 90-68 win over Jordan and top the table with three wins.

In the quarterfinals, China defeated South Korea with a 79-71 margin and registered a 98-84 win in the semi-final against New Zealand.

With 70 points in five games, Jack McVeigh has been one of the finest performers for Australia. In the semi-final, he was the team’s best player with 17 points to his name.

The talented forward returned with his finest tally of 20 points against South Korea in his first appearance. Interestingly, he has achieved 92.9% free-throw shooting, which will also be favorable to the Aussies.

Rui Zhao has accumulated 71 points in five games and is expected to be one of the key players for China. In the clutch semi-final game against New Zealand, he registered his best tally of 24 points to help the side qualify for the final.

Although China have been the most successful side in the history of FIBA Asia Cup, Australia have dominated them in head-to-head records. Australia have defeated China in 10 out of 11 occasions and heads into the summit clash as the defending champions.
