BFI announces new National Star Basketball League

The National Star Basketball League will be a first pro league of its kind.

The Basketball Federation of India (BFI) has announced that the agreement between BFI and ACG Sports has been signed on April 4, 2025, after the successful conclusion of the bidding process to finalise the organizing partner for the National Star Basketball League.

The financials of the bids were opened on March 6 and the LOA was awarded in the presence of the Overseer, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Shri Aadhav Arjuna and the Secretary General, BFI, Shri Kulvinder Singh Gill to Mr. Karan Singh, Director ACG Sports Private Limited that not only offers exposure but also significantly enhances their career prospects.

The League is a part of BFI’s ongoing efforts to elevate the standard of basketball in India. The National Star Basketball League of India is poised to become a cornerstone of the basketball calendar, showcasing the best talents across the nation. With ACG Sports at the helm, the league us set to deliver an exceptional experience for players and fans alike, fostering the growth and development of basketball in India.

The launch of a new basketball league by the BFI marks a significant step toward realising the country’s Olympic dreams in the sport. By creating a structured, competitive platform, the league provides Indian players with regular high-level exposure, improved training opportunities and a chance to develop under professional conditions.

This not only enhances the skill level and game IQ of domestic talent but also helps in scouting and nurturing young prospects across the country. The league will empower the players & coaches commercially and generating revenue to the Basketball Federation of India to improve the game and identify talented players in our country.

The league will attract international coaches, boost fan engagement, and elevate the overall standard of basketball in India. Over time, this professional ecosystem can produce a more competitive national team capable of succeeding at the Olympic level which is the mutilate goal of the BFI.
