The FIBA Asia Cup 2025 draw is to be scheduled on April 8, 2025, in Jeddah.
The FIBA Regional Office-Asia has confirmed the 16 teams competing in the FIBA Asia Cup 2025 following the conclusion of the Qualifying Tournament For Third-Place Teams on Sunday, March 23.
Chinese Taipei, Guam, India, and Iraq completed the cast for the 31st edition of FIBA’s flagship event in the continent after emerging as the top four teams in the final qualifying phase held this week in two cities.
Chinese Taipei and Guam finished as the top two teams in Group G in Taipei City, with the former completing a two-game sweep after beating Guam and Thailand. Guam went 1-1 after defeating Thailand.
India and Iraq did the same in Group H in Manama, Bahrain. India topped the pool with a 2-0 card by dominating Iraq before escaping the home team. Iraq secured the last ticket by beating Bahrain in the virtual knockout.
The four are joining host nation Saudi Arabia and 11 other teams, which booked their tickets during the First Round of the Continental Cup Qualifiers held across three windows from February 2024 to February of this year.
Defending two-time champions Australia banner the field for the Jeddah showpiece to be held on August 5-17 that also features the Philippines, New Zealand, Japan, Jordan, Lebanon, Korea, China, Iran, Qatar, and Syria.
Australia completed the back-to-back feat following a successful title defense in the highly successful 2022 Asia Cup in Jakarta, Indonesia after a thrilling encounter with Lebanon in the Final.
The 16 teams will be split into four groups of four, with the top teams of each automatically qualifying for the Quarter-Finals. On the other hand, the no. 2 and 3 teams will play in the Qualification to Quarter-Finals.
Winners of the Quarter-Finals will then advance to the Semi-Finals, where the victors will head into the finale to battle for the championship. The losing sides, meanwhile, will face each other in a Third-Place Game.
