The Indian men’s basketball team have qualified for the main draw at the FIBA 3×3 Asia Cup 2026 after dominating the qualifying round with three wins on Wednesday, April 1.
Team India were pitted alongside Kazakhstan, Hong Kong, and Bahrain in Qualifying Draw D of the FIBA 3Ă—3 Asia Cup 2026, taking place at the OCBC Square, The Kallang, Singapore.
India began their campaign with a 20-18 victory over Kazakhstan, with Pranav Prince leading from the front with a total of nine points.
In their second match, they edged past Hong Kong 19-18 in a thrilling encounter, courtesy of Arvinf Muthu’s seven points. Chun Tat Lam bagged eight points for the Asian nation but fell short as the South Asian nation won by one point.
Later in the day, India were up against Bahrain in a must-win encounter to secure a qualification for the next round of the competition. They thrashed Bahrain 21-12, with Harsh Dagar as the star performer. He earned 15 points to warp the game in under seven minutes.
India finished atop the Qualifying Draw D standings with three wins and 60 points. Kazakhstan were placed second, while Hong Kong are third with 38 and 33 points, respectively.
Both teams have played two matches, with a win and a loss apiece, thus far. Bahrain finished at the bottom with 42 points, losing all three encounters.
Malaysia secured a qualification for the main draw from Qualifying Draw B, winning all three matches against Macau, Saudi Arabia, and Turkmenistan. The A and C group matches will be played on Thursday, April 2.
So far, Harsh Dagar leads the charts for India with 21 points, while Kushal Singh has earned 13 points for the Indian side. Meanwhile, Arvind Muthu has 12 points to his name, and Pranav Prince has bagged 14 points thus far in the ongoing edition of the FIBA 3Ă—3 Asia Cup.
