Following their relegation, India will now compete in Division B of the tournament and must win it to earn promotion to the top division.

India is grouped with Kazakhstan, Chinese Taipei and Tahiti in Group A. The team relegated to the lower division after a disappointing performance in the 2021 edition. They lost to Japan, South Korea and New Zealand before a close loss to Philippines in the 7-8th classification match. Their absence in the 2023 iteration of the tournament led to their relegation.
