Bronny James made NBA history on October 22. James became one half of the league’s first-ever father-son duo to play in the same game. The 19-year-old guard, drafted 55th overall by the Los Angeles Lakers, joined his legendary father LeBron James on the court against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Born on October 6, in Cleveland, Ohio, LeBron “Bronny” James Jr. has lived his entire life in the spotlight as the eldest son of NBA superstar LeBron James and Savannah Brinson. Yet, under this constant scrutiny on him, James has been able to carve his own identity as a Cager. His growing years were divided between Cleveland and Miami and his father’s moves in the NBA.

He is one of three children for LeBron and Savannah James, who began dating during high school in Akron, Ohio. The couple welcomed Bronny when LeBron was just 19 and in his rookie NBA season.

- Freshman Year: Averaged 4.1 points in 15 minutes per game
- Junior Year: Improved to 8.8 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 2.8 assists
- Senior Year: Breakthrough season with 14.2 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game
His final year in high school proved to be pretty hot, finishing off by being selected as one of the McDonald’s All-Americans. In the All-American game, he tied the event’s record by nailing five three-pointers.
Health Setback and Recovery
A heart-stopping turn of events nearly derailed Bronny’s basketball journey when he went into cardiac arrest while practicing with USC on July 24, 2023. This very shocking incident stunned the basketball world and put his career in jeopardy.
Doctors found a treatable congenital heart defect and successfully treated him; thus, it was only five months after the said incidence that he was given a clean bill of health and allowed to go back to basketball.

College Experience at USC
Although Bronny played only half a season due to his cardiac incident, what he showed at USC was certainly potential. He averaged 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 25 games with six starts for 19.3 minutes a night. The highlight of his college game would come against Oregon State, where he notched a career high of 15 points on 6-of-11 shooting.

Standing at 6’3″, Bronny has developed into a versatile guard with specific strengths:
