Basketball Tournament draw for Paris Olympics will take place on 19th march.

Basketball’s journey in the Olympics is a tale of evolution and dominance, particularly by the United States. The sport debuted as a demonstration event in 1904, with only American teams participating. It wasn’t until the 1936 Berlin Games that basketball was officially included in the Olympics, and it took another 40 years for women’s basketball to join the ranks at the 1976 Montreal Games.

The U.S. has been a powerhouse in Olympic basketball, with the men’s team failing to clinch gold on only four occasions—1972, 1980, 1988, and 2004. The women’s team has been equally impressive, dominating the podium since 1984, except for a silver finish in 1992.

As the Paris Olympics 2024 approach, basketball continues to be a highlight. The 5-on-5 preliminary matches will take place at Pierre Mauroy Stadium in Lille, with the finals at the Accor Arena in Paris. The 3×3 competitions will entertain at Place de la Concorde, maintaining their spot in the Olympic program. This year’s games promise to add another chapter to the rich history of Olympic basketball.
