The tournament will act as a qualifier for the FIBA Women’s Asia Cup 2025.

The India’s women’s basketball team are set for an action-packed comeback to international action at the SABA Women’s Championship 2025, slated to be held at New Delhi’s KD Jadhav Indoor Stadium from February 23-26. With only three teams—India, Nepal, and the Maldives—the tournament will operate as a qualifier for the FIBA Women’s Asia Cup 2025 in China.

Under the captaincy of Sreekala Rani and vice-captain T Dharshini, the team blends experience with upcoming talent; head coach Baskar S will aim to steer the team to regional domination as it will be the first time since the 2023 Asian Games that the team will take the court.

India are set to open its campaign against Nepal on February 23, followed by a clash against Maldives on February 25. The final on February 26 will see the winner clinch the continental championship.

Playing in Division B of Asian basketball, the tournament acts not only as an opportunity for India to qualify for the FIBA Women’s Asia Cup 2025 but also serves as a route to reaffirm its dominance over South Asia.
