The Basketball Federation of India (BFI) have announced the roster for the upcoming Saba Women’s Championship 2025 in New Delhi, scheduled for February 23 to 26. The four-day tournament, which will be held at the KD Jadhav Indoor Stadium, will mark the Indian women’s team’s return to international action after a gap of two years.
The Eves were last seen at the 2022 Asian Games. Maldives and Nepal are the other two participating teams in the tournament, with the winner set to represent South Asia in the upcoming FIBA Women’s Asia Cup 2025 in China.
Indian women’s basketball team will be led by captain Sreekala Rani while T Dharshini has been named the vice-captain. The team features a strong mix of experience and young talents and head coach Baskar S and his staff will aim to guide the team to victory in the zonal championship.
India will host Nepal on February 23 followed by the Maldives game on February 25, with the finals set for February 26 at the KD Jadhav Indoor Stadium in New Delhi. This tournament will also mark India’s first international game of the year and their first appearance since the 2023 Asian Games.
Serving as a crucial step before the FIBA Women’s Asia Cup, the competition presents an opportunity for India, currently competing in Division B, to strengthen their position in South Asian women’s basketball by winning the championship.
