India will begin their campaign in round 1 on November 27 against Saudi Arabia.

The FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027 Asian Qualifiers is scheduled to commence from Thursday, 27 November, 2025 and conclude in March 2027. The process shall determine seven teams that shall join the qualified host Qatar.

16 teamsโ€”split into groups of fourโ€”are set to participate in the tournament in a double round-robin format, with the top three teams from each group advancing to the second round. Therefore, the second round shall witness 12 teams being split into two groups of six each. 

Group A consists of Australia, New Zealand, Philippines, and Guam. Japan, China, South Korea and Chinese Taipei are grouped together in Group B. Group C comprises Iran, Jordan, Syria and Iraq. India are placed in Group D alongside Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, and the hosts Qatar. 

In the previous edition of the tournament held in 2023, Germany emerged victorious with a six-point win over Serbia.
