The two heavyweights will collide at the Pyramids this weekend.

One of the highly anticipated boxing events of 2026 is here as Oleksandr Usyk will take on Rico Verhoeven. Officially promoted as Glory in Giza, the event will take place on May 23 at the Giza Necropolis, in front of the ancient Pyramids of Giza in Giza, Egypt.

WBC has unveiled the “King of the Nile” ceremonial belt, which will be awarded to the winner. Now, let’s take a look at what’s in store for the main event as well as what’s in store in the undercard.

Undisputed WBC, WBA, IBF, and Ring Magazine heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk will put the WBC & WBA titles on the line against Rico Verhoeven (1-0), who is undefeated since 2015 and has held the GLORY Heavyweight title for over a decade.

Rico’s lack of boxing experience has raised some questions as he goes up against the best heavyweight boxer, who is also undefeated. However, Rico’s towering presence at 6ft 5in, his impressive resume in kickboxing and training under Peter Fury, Tyson’s uncle, could give him an advantage against Usyk.

That said, it’s still Usyk, and beating him still is a tall task for even a seasoned boxer. Before Usyk and Verhoeven clash in the main event, the undercard will feature four title fights.
