He earned this opportunity by avenging his lone professional loss to Chris Eubank Jr. and following it up with a win over former world champion Regis Prograis, and he has made no secret of wanting to complete what his father never quite managed: a world title won on American soil.
Both men fight with the same come-forward, high-output style, which has fuelled the buildup and a fiery face-off between the two camps.
The 27-year-old Californian enters as the bookmakers’ favourite given his class and experience at the top level, though there has been fight-week chatter over how comfortably Benn, who has not competed at 147lbs since 2022, makes the welterweight limit.
The event falls on Mexican Independence Day weekend and forms half of a combat-sports doubleheader on Paramount+, following Noche UFC earlier in the day.
