The Indian boxer is on the undercard of Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul

Neeraj Goyat is a promising figure in Indian boxing. He is making waves with his impressive performances. After gaining fame he is currently all set to compete in a six-round undercard match before the main event, which will feature Jake Paul and Mike Tyson.

Neeraj Goyat will be facing Whindersson Nunes. The boxing event is all set to be held at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Neeraj Goyat vs Whindersson Nunes match will be played at 07:00 PM EST, (5:30 pm according to India Time) and broadcast live on Netflix.

Who is Neeraj Goyat?

Neeraj Goyat was born on 11 November 1991. He is a well-known Indian boxer and mixed martial artist. He is the first Indian boxer to reach the WBC world rankings. In 2017, Goyat earned the WBC Asia ‘Honorary Boxer of the Year’ award.

In 2014, he became the first person in China to defeat Chinese boxer Xu Can, a former Regular World Boxing Association world champion.

Goyat was born in Begumpur village, Karnal, Haryana. Neeraj Goyat attended SD Model School in Haryana till he reached the ninth grade.

He began boxing in 2006 at the Army Sports Institute, where he also completed his 10th-grade education. In the inaugural senior national competition conducted in 2017 where he earned the platinum medal. Neeraj Goyat won gold in the 2014 Youth National Tournament.

Neeraj Goyat was the first Indian professional boxer to compete in the 2016 Summer Olympics qualifications in Venezuela, where he earned a bronze medal. In 2017, he earned the WBC Asia ‘Honorary Boxer of the Year’ award.

First international athlete to sign with Most Valuable Promotions

Following Jake Paul’s victory against André August, Indian fighter Neeraj Goyat called Paul out on Instagram, which received 25 million views. Paul called him out by saying, “Anytime, anyplace.”

Fans anticipated that Goyat might be Paul’s opponent on March 2, 2024, but Ryan Bourland was named instead. Goyat proceeded to call out Paul and flew to Puerto Rico, where the two had a physical encounter.

Shortly after, Goyat signed with Most Valuable Promotions, becoming their first international signee. Goyat later revealed that MVP and Paul had promised a future fight in India, but only after Paul faced Mike Tyson in a preceding bout.

On May 21, 2024, it was reported that Goyat was going to face YouTuber and comedian Whindersson Nunes on the undercard of the Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson event at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, United States, which would be broadcast internationally on Netflix on July 20, 2024.

However, because of Mike Tyson’s personal health challenges, the event was postponed and rescheduled for November 15, 2024. The battle was later declared to be in the middleweight class which would be a six-round match.
