WGM Divya Deshmukh’s dominance in the girls rankings continue to shine as she completes 12 months as the top-rated player among juniors worldwide.

According to the FIDE rating list for the month of October, her published classical rating stands at 2478, good enough to secure her No. 1 position among girls in classical chess, a spot she first claimed in October 2024.

She is followed by Yuxin Song and Miaoyi Lu from China. The top 10 has no other Indian girl with Prishita Gupta being the closest at 13th spot.

Deshmkuh also leads the Rapid Girls rating list with a rating of 2419 trailed by Alice Lee (2412) of the USA and Meruert Kamalidenova (2398) from Kazakhstan.

In the broader women’s world rankings, Divya Deshmukh rose up to the 11th position, in a list topped by China’s Hou Yifan while in India she stands as the second-highest ranked woman, just behind Koneru Humpy who occupies the sixth spot.

Vaishali R (15th) and Harika Dronavalli (18th) are the only other Indian women in the top 20 dominated by Chinese women.
