What is the format of Global Chess League 2024?
The Global Chess League 2024 features six franchises competing in a double round-robin format. Each team plays 10 matches, with six boards running simultaneously. Players start with 15 minutes on the clock, plus a 10-second increment per move.
Scoring System: A win with black pieces earns 4 Game Points (GP), while a win with white gives 3 GP. A draw awards 1 GP. The team with more GP wins the match and earns 3 Match Points (MP). A tied GP gives each team 1 MP, while a losing team gets no MP.
Final Format: The top two teams advance to the final, a best-of-two match. In case of a tie, they’ll play a blitz tiebreak, and if needed, a sudden-death blitz.
Reserves: Each team has three reserve players to substitute as needed during the tournament.
What is the prize money in Global Chess League 2024?
- Winner – 500,000 USD
- Runner-up – 250,000 USD
- 3rd & 4th place – 100,000 USD each
Bonus (split among players and winning team coach) – 50,000 USD.
