The FIDE World Women’s Rapid and Blitz Championships 2025 will run from December 26 to December 30, 2025.

The finest players from around the world will participate in the FIDE World Women’s Rapid and Blitz Championships 2025. The tournament will take pl ace from December 26 to 30 in Doha, Qatar.

Both Rapid and Blitz will have a total prize fund of €150,000, with the winner’s share being €40,000 each. Defending champions Koneru Humpy (Rapid) and Ju Wenjun (Blitz) return in the Women’s Rapid that features 11 rounds and an expanded Blitz format.

Three American players, Irina Krush, Carissa Yip, and Jennifer Yu, are also competing. On that note, let’s discuss the tournament’s format, participants, and schedule.

When and where will the FIDE World Women’s Rapid and Blitz Championships 2025 be held?

The Sports and Events Complex at Qatar University will be hosting the tournament. The Rapid event will take place from December 26 to 28, while Blitz will run from December 29 to 30.

Who is the defending champion of the FIDE World Women’s Rapid and Blitz Championships?

Koneru Humpy emerged as the World Rapid Champion, while Ju Wenjun won the World Blitz title.

FIDE World Women’s Rapid and Blitz Championships 2025 Format

The rapid event will consist of 11 rounds, with a time limit of 15 minutes and an increment of 10 seconds.

On the other hand, the players will participate in a two-stage Blitz event. The first stages, known as the Swiss qualifier, will have 19 rounds.

Then, a 4-player knockout final will be played with a 3-minute time limit and a 2-second increment to determine the final winner.
