Global Chess League 2025: Full schedule, fixtures, results, live streaming details

Global Chess League 2025 will be the first edition of the tournament held in India.
The Global Chess League 2025 will be held from 14 to 23 December 2025 at the Royal Opera House in Mumbai, marking the league’s first appearance in India after editions in Dubai and London.
Six franchises will contest the title: American Gambits, Triveni Continental Kings, Alpine SG Pipers, PBG Alaskan Knights, Ganges Grandmasters, and upGrad Mumbai Masters.
The GCL debuted in Dubai in 2023, where Triveni Continental Kings won the inaugural championship, defeating upGrad Mumbai Masters in a thrilling final.
Season 2 in London saw Triveni defend their crown, finishing ahead of PBG Alaskan Knights, who took second place. With two titles in two editions, Triveni enters 2025 as the team to beat.
Season 3 features the strongest line-ups in the league’s short history, anchored by the designated Icon players for each franchise. The American Gambits will be led by Hikaru Nakamura, bringing elite speed-chess firepower.
Alireza Firouzja returns as the Icon for Triveni Continental Kings, attempting to guide them to a hat-trick of titles. Fabiano Caruana headlines the Alpine SG Pipers, offering stability on the top board.
PBG Alaskan Knights place their hopes on D Gukesh, now established among the world’s top contenders. The Ganges Grandmasters rely on Viswanathan Anand, whose experience remains invaluable for a mixed roster. Maxime Vachier Lagrave leads upGrad Mumbai Masters, giving them an aggressive presence at the top.
The competition uses a double round-robin structure in the league stage. Each team faces the other five teams twice, resulting in 10 matches per team.

Every match consists of six boards played simultaneously. Results on individual boards produce game points, which decide the match winner.
After the league phase, the top two teams progress directly to the Final. There is no semifinal bracket. A third-place match is held for the next two teams in the standings.
The final is played over a two-match showdown, with the cumulative game points deciding the champion. If tied, a blitz tie-break determines the title.
Points System
Game scoring remains one of the league’s defining features.• Win with Black: 4 points• Win with White: 3 points• Draw: 1 point• Loss: 0 points
Whichever team accumulates more game points in a match earns the match result. Match points are then awarded as follows:• Match win: 3 points• Match draw: 1 point• Match loss: 0 points
