Jadumani Singh wins silver in men's 55kg boxing at Commonwealth Games 2026

Jye Dixonâs strong showing held back Jadumani Singhâs gold
Indiaâs Jadumani Singh Mandengbam came agonisingly close to gold in the menâs 55kg final at the Commonwealth Games 2026. He eventually bowed out to Australiaâs Jye Dixon in a contest that swung dramatically across three rounds.
The Manipuri southpaw started brightly, catching Dixon cold in the opening exchanges and forcing a tight, closely fought first round that he shaded 3-2 on the cards after a late surge just before the bell. But Dixon regrouped in style.
The Australian came out sharper in round two, timing his counters beautifully to shut down Jadumaniâs attacking work, and this time there was no ambiguity as all five judges scored it 5-0 in his favour to level the bout.
The decider followed a similar script, with Dixon staying composed and picking his shots while Jadumani pressed forward hoping to turn the tables in his favour. A late flurry in the final ten seconds from the Indian wasnât enough to sway the judges, and Dixon was confirmed champion on a unanimous decision.
It still caps a fine campaign for Jadumani, who only recently made the shift up from 50kg to 55kg. He cruised through the tournament with three straight 5-0 unanimous wins, over Scotlandâs Aaron Cullen, then Pakistanâs Sumama Rehman in a tense round of 16 clash, before seeing off Namibiaâs Philip Haoseb in the semifinal to book his spot in the final.
Indiaâs boxing final standings as of yet
The silver medal marks Indiaâs third final of the Glasgow Games, after Preeti Pawar and Jaismine Lamboria both struck gold in their respective finals earlier in the competition.
With seven more Indian boxers still set to fight for titles in Glasgow, the contingentâs remarkable run in the ring looks far from over.
- Gold: Jye Dixon (Australia)
- Silver: Jadumani Singh (India)
- Bronze: Philip Haoseb (Namibia) and Amadu Mohammed (Ghana)
