Commonwealth Games 2026: Full list of sports included & omitted from Glasgow CWG

Racquet sports are one of the major events excluded from Glasgow CWG 2026.
The sports programme for Commonwealth Games 2026, scheduled to take place in Glasgow, Scotland, from July 23 to August 2, have been officially announced. The 23rd edition of the multi-sport event will feature a limited lineup of 10 sports.
Some of the notable sports that have been omitted for the Commonwealth Games 2026 are field hockey, badminton, wrestling, cricket, table tennis, squash, and triathlon among others. This means that the Commonwealth Games 2026 will include fewer sports than the Birmingham edition, which featured 19 sports.

However, the addition of para sports indicates that the organizing committee, the Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF), aims to promote inclusivity.
In addition, the 10 sports will take place across four different venues — the Emirates Arena, the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome, the Scottish Event Campus (SEC), Scotstoun Stadium, and Tollcross International Swimming Centre. Notably, the number of sports for the Glasgow edition has been reduced to ensure the Games are budget friendly.
At the Commonwealth Games 2022, Australia emerged as the most successful nation with a whopping 179 medals, including 67 gold, 57 silver, and 55 bronze medals. England closely followed Australia with 176 overall medals, while Canada occupied the third spot, collecting 92 medals. India and New Zealand rounded out the top five with 61 and 49 medals, respectively.
