The duo also clinched silver medals in the mixed team event earlier in the competition.

Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand clinched yet another medal in badminton at Commonwealth Games. The pair beat Australia’s Gronya Somerville and Wendy Hsuan-Yu Chen 21-15, 21-18 to clinch the bronze medal in women's doubles. After some splendid performances in the women’s doubles campaign, the duo started as favourites to win the medal.

Earlier in the day, Gayatri Gopichand and Treesa Jolly lost their semifinal match against Malaysian duo Tan Pearley and Thinaah Muralitharan, 18-21, 16-21. In their quarterfinal clash, the duo thrashed Tahlia Richardson and Ketherine Wynter of Jamaica, 21-8, 21-6.

The Indian pair had a good run, including some phenomenal victories in their mixed-event matches. They put up a strong fight in the must-win final match of the mixed event, but couldn’t take their team across the line. The duo were also All-England Open semifinalists earlier this year.

Earlier in the event, Kidambi Srikanth won the bronze medal match against Singapore’s Teh after losing his semifinal clash against Tze Yong NG of Malaysia. He was a top contender for the gold, but destiny had some other plans for him.

Meanwhile, Indian women's badminton sensation, PV Sindhu has stormed into the final of the women’s singles event where she will play against Michelle Li of Canada.

Rising superstar Lakshya Sen has also reached the final with his dominant performances. He is set to compete against Malaysia’s TZ Yong NG for a gold medal match. It would be historic if the young sensation from India could win this match.

Apart from these, India also won silver in the mixed team event after losing the final 1-3 against Malaysia. India could add to their medal tally on Monday with Sindhu, Lakshya Sen and Satwik Rankireddy/Chirag Shetty in action. While Sindhu and Sen play the gold match in their respective singles event, Rankireddy and Shetty will eye gold in the men's doubles match.
