India’s Commonwealth Games 2026 kit unboxed by gymnast Yogeshwar Singh

126 Indian athletes will participate in the 23rd Commonwealth Games in Glasgow

The Commonwealth Games 2026 began on Thursday, July 23, with the multisport tournament set to be hosted in Glasgow, Scotland. India have emerged as one of the leading nations in the tournament over the years, amassing 61 medals in Birmingham 2022.

With an eye on improving the medal tally in this year’s edition, the country has sent a 124-member contingent to Glasgow. Now, the tally stands at 124 as Arun Kumar has been disqualified. The athlete list includes eight artistic gymnasts, comprising four men and four women.

In a video shared on social media, the gymnast unboxed the bag containing the official kit for the Indian athletes. It contained a blue jacket, a white jacket, and a black jacket, as well as several pairs of trousers and shorts. It also contained T-shirts of various colours, each with “India” emblazoned on the back.

Along with this, the athletes were also provided with the Indian flag and several pins with the national emblem on them. As a gymnast, Yogeshwar was also provided with two one-piece singlets.

The kits were developed by JSW and designed by Aaquib Wani. The jackets and the shirts bore a spirograph-like design that was named ‘Invisible Trajectories’. According to a press release, it was inspired by “the rhythm, precision, and flow of athletic movement”.

Former tennis star Rohit Rajpal is India’s Chef de Mission for the tournament and leads the contingent, which will compete across eight sports.
