Indian boxer Sachin Siwach advanced to the men’s 60 kg Round of 16 at the Commonwealth Games 2026 on Saturday. The 26-year-old pugilist from Haryana defeated Canada’s Keoma Al-Ahmadieh by a 4-1 split decision in the Round of 32 bout.
Sachin, who has a Commonwealth Youth Games gold medal to his name, started the bout aggressively. Despite Al-Ahmadieh landing a few punches in the first round, Siwach edged it 3-2 on the judges’ scorecard.
The second round was much more one-sided, with the Indian boxer swinging the momentum with a late flurry of jabs. All five judges awarded him the second round, giving him a big cushion heading into the final round.
Al-Ahmadieh attempted to mount a comeback in the third and final round, landing some clean punches on Siwach. The Canadian claimed the round 3-2 on the scorecards, but the Indian boxer secured the overall victory.
While one judge awarded Al-Ahmadieh a 29-28 verdict, the four remaining judges ruled in Siwach’s favour 29-28, 30-27, 29-28 and 29-28. As a result, the Indian pugilist secured a split-decision victory.

Who will Sachin Siwach face next?
After his impressive victory over Al-Ahmadieh, Siwach will face England’s William Hewitt in the Round of 16 bout on Monday. The winner of this fight will face either Lesotho’s Toka Litabe or Botswana’s Treasure Moremi in the quarter-finals.
Day 3 was a fruitful one for India, with para powerlifter Jhandu Kumar winning a bronze medal in the men’s heavyweight event. It was his first CWG medal, and also India’s first this year.

Meanwhile, Jadumani Singh Mandengbam secured a Round of 32 win over Scotland’s Aaron Cullen in the men’s 55 kg event. He will face Pakistan’s Sumama Rehman in the next stage.
