A total of 13 Indian cricketers have registered their names for SA20 2025-26 auction.
Piyush Chawla and Siddharth Kaul are amongst the 13 former Indian cricketers who have signed up for the upcoming SA20 2025-26 auction. They are one of 784 players who have registered for the event on September 9.
All of the Indian cricketers are either retired or have given up their claims to play for India or in the Indian Premier League (IPL), under the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) regulations.
Dinesh Karthik is the only Indian player with prior SA20 league experience. He played for Paarl Royals in the previous season. By then, he had retired from cricket in all forms of international cricket and the IPL.
Mahesh Ahir, Sarul Kanwar, Anureet Singh Kathuria, Nikhil Jaga, Mohamed Faidh, KS Naveen, Ansari Marouf, Imran Khan, Venkatesh Galipelly, and Atul Yadav, apart from Chawla, Kaul, and Rajpoot, are the Indians who are part of the massive register, which is certain to be pruned ahead of the auction.
The base price for every Indian cricketer is 200,000 rand, with the exception of Piyush Chawla, who has a reserve price of 1,000,000 rand. A basic value of 500,000 rand has been listed for Imran Khan.
40 Pakistani players and 150 England players register for the SA20 auction.
It’s interesting to note that during the first three seasons of the SA20 league, none of the six teams—MI Cape Town, Joburg Super Kings, Durban Super Giants, Sunrisers Eastern Cape, Paarl Royals, and Pretoria Capitals—owned by Indian businessmen, specifically IPL team owners, have included a Pakistani player in their rosters.
Azam Khan, Imam-ul-Haq, Abrar Ahmed, and Saim Ayub are among the 40 Pakistani players listed on the roster, along with other well-known figures from the current or previous national teams.
There are more than 150 English players on the roster, including several internationals like Jason Roy and Alex Hales.
SA20 has previously stated that top young players Dewald Brevis and Kwena Maphaka, as well as well-known South African stars Aiden Markram, Lungi Ngidi, Wiaan Mulder, and Keshav Maharaj, will be up for grabs at the auction. Additionally available are T20 experts Tabraiz Shamsi, Anrich Nortje, and Quinton de Kock.
A total of USD 7.4 million is available for the six franchises to spend on the 84 open slots at the Johannesburg auction. SA20 has previously declared that teams will be permitted to have one wildcard player for Season 4, who might be a South African or international cricket player whose pay would be over the salary cap.
The SA20 league’s fourth season will begin on December 26, 2025 and end on January 25, 2026. The reigning winners are MI Cape Town.
