India will play against England in a five-match T20I series from July 1.

The Indian Cricket Team is all set for an elaborate white-ball tour in England, starting from July 1st. They will be playing five T20Is and three ODIs against the hosts. The T20Is are slated for July 1, 4, 7, 9 and 11.

India will be geared up for this intense clash, as they would want to erase the memories of their crushing whitewash against Ireland. The defending champions of the ICC T20 World Cup are fielding the same squad as the Ireland series, with newcomers Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Suryansh Shedge and Prince Yadav.

Abhishek Sharma and the Player of the Tournament of the last T20 World Cup, Sanju Samson, will eye a high-scoring series with their bats. Meanwhile, India’s vulnerable bowling will aim to make the best use of the seam-friendly conditions.

On the other hand, England embark upon their white-ball cricket after the recent Test series against New Zealand. Their captain, Harry Brook, and some other players managed to get only a day’s rest after the red-ball match.

This is an all important series for the Indian skipper Shreyas Iyer, who is yet to announce his return to the T20I side. He failed to stamp his authority in the previous series, and will look to do so in the English assignment.

However, it is not a cake walk to win a T20I series against England on their home soil. So far only two Indian captains have registered a series win against them.

In the T20I series, Rohit Sharma was the Player of the Series, for scoring the most runs in the three matches (137). He slammed a blazing century in the series decider, helping India clinch the victory by 7 wickets. Meanwhile, Hardik Pandya and Kuldeep Yadav shone with 6 and 5 wickets, respectively.

2022 – Rohit Sharma

The year 2022 as well saw an elaborate tour, comprising matches in all three formats. In 2022, however, unlike 2018, India sealed the series in the first two matches itself. They won by 50 and 49 runs, respectively, wrapping up the series. Bhuvneshwar Kumar was the Player of the Series for picking 4 wickets in 2 matches at an economy of 6.25. Suryakumar Yadav was the highest run-scorer with 171 runs at a strike rate above 200.
