Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have suffered a major blow amid their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 campaign. Young batter Ayush Mhatre suffered a hamstring injury while batting in the previous clash against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).

Mhatre is the leading run-scorer for CSK in IPL 2026 after six games, and his injury comes as a big setback for CSK. As per the reports in Indian Express, he is expected to miss a week of action due to his injury, which will definitely hamper CSK’s batting strength.

Moreover, if the injury is serious, Mhatre might also be ruled out of the entire tournament. Below are three players who can replace Ayush Mhatre in the CSK squad if he is ruled out of IPL 2026.

Anmolpreet Singh did not find a buyer in the IPL 2026 mini-auction. He showed a brilliant form in SMAT 2025-26, ending amongst Punjab’s highest run-scorers. With 349 runs in 10 matches at a strike rate of 175.37, he showed brilliant form in the tournament.

The right-handed batter has represented the Mumbai Indians in the past. They signed him back in 2019. He has an aggressive batting style that suits his addition in the top order.

2. Yash Dhull

Yash Dhull is another good option to replace Ayush Mhatre. Last year, Dhull hammered 435 runs in eight matches in Delhi Premier League (DPL) at a strike rate of 167.31, then followed it up with 434 runs in five games in Ranji Trophy. However, no franchise bid for him at his INR 30 lakh base price.

Dhull offers the ability to build a solid platform without slowing down. His consistency in domestic cricket heading into 2026 deserved much more respect than it got in the auction room.

1. Mayank Agarwal

The most powerful batter in the entire unsold pool has to be Mayank Agarwal. With 2,756 runs across 131 matches, including a century and 13 fifties, he has a long experience in IPL. His recent Ranji Trophy form, 678 runs at an average of 42.37, shows he still owns the batting skills despite being a veteran.

Last season, he was named as an injury replacement for RCB and added 95 runs in four games. Agarwal is the best contender in this list.
