4 Indian cricketers who got promoted in BCCI central contracts for year 2023-24

Four Indian cricketers have got a promotion from BCCI in central contracts.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the central contracts for the season 2023-24 on Wednesday, February 28th. Only four players have ascended to Grade A+ contracts, the highest tier, notably including India’s captain Rohit Sharma, along with Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, and Ravindra Jadeja.
Meanwhile, Mohammed Shami and Hardik Pandya feature in Grade A for this season. Additionally, 15 players have secured Grade C contracts, featuring talents like Rinku Singh, Mukesh Kumar, Shivam Dube, and Prasidh Krishna.
Furthermore, there have been advancements in contract grades for four players, with promotions from B to A and from C to B categories. Now let’s take a look at the four Indian cricketers who got promoted in BCCI central contracts for season 2023-24.
Here are Indian cricketers who received promotion in BCCI central contracts for 2023-24:
1. Mohammed Siraj (Grade B to Grade A):

Due to his exceptional performances in 2023, including standout displays in the Asia Cup and World Cup, Mohammed Siraj was ascended to the No. 1 spot in the ODI rankings. Although he currently occupies the fourth position, he previously reclaimed the top spot last year.
In 2023, Siraj showcased his prowess by securing 44 wickets in ODIs alone, contributing significantly to his overall tally of 60 wickets across all formats. Additionally, his impressive performances have led the BCCI to promote him from Grade B to Grade A in the central contracts for the year 2023-2024.
As per the BCCI contracts, as part of Grade B, Siraj used to earn 3 crores and match fees separately in the last season (2022-23), but now being a part of Grade A, he will earn 5 crores and match fees for the season 2023-24.
2. KL Rahul (Grade B to Grade A):

KL Rahul, who suffered an injury during the IPL 2023 and underwent surgery, made a remarkable comeback during the Asia Cup and ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. His performances in these tournaments solidified his reputation as one of India’s top batsmen. Batting at No. 5 in ODIs, Rahul showcased his adaptability and versatility, making significant contributions to the team.
Rahul in 2023 scored a total of 1203 runs at an impressive average of 57.28, Rahul demonstrated his ability to convert starts into substantial scores. Notably, he scored 1060 runs in ODIs and accumulated 143 runs in tests. His century in the first test against South Africa in Centurion occurred in 2023.
Due to his outstanding performances, the BCCI has promoted KL Rahul from Grade B to Grade A in the central contract for the year 2023-2024. Rahul now will earn 5 crores + match fees from BCCI for the season 2023-24.
3. Shubman Gill (Grade B to Grade A):

Shubman Gill, the rising star in cricket, is swiftly establishing himself as the next big sensation in Indian cricket. In 2023, Gill demonstrated his batting prowess by accumulating a remarkable 2154 runs, including 7 centuries, making him not only the highest run-scorer for India but also among all international players. His notable contributions comprised 1584 runs in ODIs, 258 runs in Test matches, and 312 runs in T20Is.
Throughout the year, Gill achieved several significant milestones, including his first double century in ODIs and his maiden century in T20Is, both achieved in 2023. Additionally, he ascended to the top spot in the ODI rankings for batters in 2023 and currently holds the second position. Gill’s exceptional performances earned him the prestigious Polly Umrigar award for the best men’s cricketer of the year for 2022-2023, recognizing his stellar batting displays for the Indian team.
In recognition of his stellar achievements, the BCCI has elevated Gill from Grade B to Grade A in the central contracts for the season 2023-2024, acknowledging his immense talent and potential. Gill will now earn 5 crores + match fees from the BCCI, which is a hike of 2 crores.
4. Kuldeep Yadav (Grade C to Grade B):

Kuldeep Yadav had an outstanding 2023, which included significant tournaments like the Asia Cup in Sri Lanka and the World Cup in India. Since his return to the Indian team, Kuldeep Yadav has been a revelation, showcasing exceptional bowling abilities and consistently providing crucial breakthroughs. In 39 matches across two formats in 2023, Yadav claimed an impressive tally of 63 wickets.
His ability to take wickets in crucial junctures has been a game-changer for India, disrupting opposition batting line-ups with finesse. Kuldeep Yadav picked up 49 wickets in ODIs and 14 in T20Is in the year 2023.
Due to his remarkable performances, the BCCI has promoted Kuldeep Yadav from Grade C to Grade B in the central contracts for the season 2023-2024. Kuldeep, who used to earn 1 crore + match fees in the season 2022-23, will now earn 3 crores along with match fees from the BCCI till 30th September, 2024.
