The Indian squad is likely to be announced in the first week of May. The selectors are likely to pick a well-balanced side. But some media reports confirmed that the selectors might reward some youngsters for their good performances in the ongoing IPL with a place in the T20 World Cup squad. 1. Shubman Gill

According to some former cricketers and cricket pundits, Shubman Gill is the next big thing in Indian cricket. And why not? The 24-year-old has been unmatchable in the last 15 months or so. He is now among the first-choice players for India in all three formats. Even his current form in the IPL 2024 is good. He has scored over 300 runs in the tournament with two half-centuries. It is almost certain that Gill will make it to the T20 World Cup squad and it will be his first ever ICC T20 event.

2. Kuldeep Yadav

After a couple of years of bad form, Kuldeep Yadav made a stunning comeback for Team India. Since the IPL 2023, he has been unstoppable and has become India’s first-choice spinner in white-ball cricket. His numbers since his comeback are exceptional, and he might be the first-choice spinner in India’s playing XI for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. This will be his first big event in the shortest format for India.

3. Sanju Samson

The biggest fight is for the wicket-keeper’s spot in Team India. KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant, Jitesh Sharma, Ishan Kishan, and even Dinesh Karthik have done well in the IPL 2024. That has certainly made this race more interesting. But one name that might get an edge is Sanju Samson. The RR captain has been brilliant with the bat, as he has scored over 300 runs in the tournament. One thing that favours him is that he can bat in the middle order. 4. Shivam Dube

With Hardik Pandya not in good form, one name that comes out as his replacement is Shivam Dube. India tried him in the T20I series against Afghanistan ahead of the IPL 2024, and he did well. He has scored over 300 runs in the ongoing IPL 2024 as well for CSK. His ability to hit spinners make him a good choice for India because he can demolish any bowling attack. So, we might see Dube playing his first ever ICC event for India this year.
