5 batsmen who have hit most centuries in ICC Cricket World Cup history.

The ICC Cricket World Cup, often regarded as the pinnacle of cricket, occurs once in four years. The first ever tournament was played in 1975 and it has so far seen 13 editions.

The 13th edition of the tournament is being played from October 5th to November 19th, 2023. And India are hosting the tournament for the fourth time. India have previously hosted three Cricket World Cups along with other countries. But this edition will be hosted only by India.

5. Virat Kohli - 5:

The former Indian captain and 2011 World Cup winner Virat Kohli made his World Cup debut in 2011 and so far has played four editions of the tournament. In those four editions, he has went on to play 36 matches and has hit 5 centuries. Notably, he made his World Cup debut with a century against Bangladesh in 2011. His next century came against Pakistan in India's first match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015. He failed to reach the three-figure mark in 2019. But in 2023, he scored three centuries. Adding up to a total of five centuries. He also is the third highest run-scorer in tournament's history with 1741 runs to his name.

4. Kumar Sangakkara - 5:

The former Sri Lankan skipper, Kumar Sangakkara, is one of the greatest batsmen and most successful wicket-keepers in the history of cricket. Sangakkara was added to ICC Cricket Hall of Fame in 2021. He is the third-highest run-scorer in World Cup. The Lankan scored five hundred in 37 ODI World Cup matches and accumulated 1532 runs at a dashing average of 56.74.

3. Sachin Tendulkar - 6:

Master blaster Sachin Tendulkar has registered a list of records under his name. He is the highest run-scorer in the World Cup. Sachin played 45 matches until his last World Cup appearance in 2011 and scored 2278 runs, including six centuries in World Cup. He also holds the record for scoring the most fifties in World Cup history (15).

2. David Warner - 6:

Australian opener David Warner is considered one of the most destructive openers of all formats. He has scored six centuries in ICC Cricket World Cup history. He scored his highest score of 178 in the 2015 World Cup against Afghanistan. He made his World Cup debut in 2015 and is currently playing his 3rd ODI World Cup in 2023. He has already scored two centuries in the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 in India.

34-year-old Indian captain Rohit Sharma has already registered the most centuries (7) in ICC Cricket World Cup history and is the only batter to score five centuries in a single edition of Cricket World Cup, which he did in 2019. Rohit is also the only batsman in cricket history who has scored three double centuries in ODI cricket.
