In the fourth test against England in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025, he slammed a magical century to help India end the game in a draw. It was among his best batting performances in test cricket this year.

4. Travis Head (Australia) – 771 runs

Australian batter Travis Head grabs the fourth spot on this list. The left-handed batsman has piled up 771 runs in 11 innings in 2025, at a stunning average of 40.57. He has hammered two centuries and three fifties, including a match-winning 123 runs against England in the opening game of The Ashes 2025-26 in Perth. Head is also the highest run-getter for Australia in tests in 2025.

3. Joe Root (England)- 790 runs

England batter Joe Root has mustered 790 runs in 10 games at an average of 52.66 across 17 innings. In 2025, the right-handed batsman became the second highest all-time run-scorer in test cricket, overtaking batting legends like Ricky Ponting, Jacques Kallis, and Rahul Dravid. The 34-year-old stormed four centuries, three of which came against India in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025.

2. KL Rahul (India) – 813 runs

KL Rahul became the permanent opener for India after Rohit Sharma’s retirement from test cricket earlier this year. With 813 runs in 19 innings (10 tests) in 2025, the right-handed batsman captures second place on this list. At an average of 45.16, the 33-year-old hammered three centuries and an equal number of fifties. His highest score of 137 runs came against England at Headingley in June.

1. Shubman Gill (India) – 983 runs

Indian captain Shubman Gill steals the top spot on this list, with 983 runs in nine clashes in 2025. At a spectacular batting average of 70.21 in 16 innings, the right-handed batter hammered five tons and one fifty in the longest format. With 754 runs in five games against England in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025, he shattered multiple batting records and earned the spotlight with his spectacular show.
