5 former RCB stars who are part of CPL 2026

Shimron Hetmyer made his IPL debut for RCB back in 2019.

The Caribbean Premier League (CPL) has once again brought together a strong collection of international stars who are familiar faces in T20 leagues such as the Indian Premier League (IPL) and the SA20. The players who are featuring across the seven different franchises have represented IPL franchises in the past or still continue to do so. The 2026 edition began on August 7 and has attracted considerable attention due to the presence of these international giants alongside some remarkable talent from the Caribbean. 

Among several familiar faces, a few of these cricketers have represented the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the IPL. Shimron Hetmyer, Quinton de Kock and Alzarri Joseph are among the former RCB players who are currently part of the CPL 2026, representing their respective sides. Their IPL careers have taken different paths, as they have either retired from the IPL or have gone on to represent other franchises in recent years.

5. Moeen Ali 

Moeen Ali, the former English all-rounder, has given years to franchise cricket. He was part of the RCB franchise between 2018 and 2020 and played across 17 innings with the bat; the left-hander contributed 309 runs at an average of 20.60 and a decent strike rate of 158.46. With his off-spin, Moeen claimed 10 wickets for RCB at a handy economy of 7.13. 

Moeen Ali is currently leading the Antigua & Barbuda Falcons in CPL 2026, and the former English all-rounder has contributed 42 runs at a strike rate of 150 and also picked up a wicket with the ball. 

4. Quinton de Kock 

Quinton de Kock is currently playing for the Barbados Tridents in the CPL 2026. In two innings so far, QDK has made a spectacular impact with 80 runs at a strike rate of 200. The Protea wicket-keeper played for RCB during their 2018 season, and in eight innings he amassed 201 runs at an average of 25.12. 

However, QDK is often referred to as one of the finest overseas batters in the history of the IPL, contributing significantly to the success of Mumbai Indians. In his IPL career spanning over a decade, the Protea opener has amassed 3441 runs. 

3. Shimron Hetmyer 

Shimron Hetmyer has returned to the Guyana Amazon Warriors for CPL 2026, and has already made some handy contributions with his explosive batting, including a feisty 49 off just 19 balls in the last game against the Antigua & Barbuda Falcons. 

Hetmyer too boasts a decorated IPL career with 1560 runs across 94 matches, but the majority of his success came with the Rajasthan Royals. However, he made his debut in the IPL with the Royal Challengers Bengaluru back in 2019 and ended the season with 90 runs from five matches, including a maiden half-century. 

2. Alzarri Joseph 

The West Indian pacer Alzarri Joseph has not featured in the IPL over the past two seasons; however, his last franchise was RCB back in 2024. Though Joseph had only three games for the Royal Challengers, he had a terrible season with just one wicket by the end of the IPL. 

Playing for the Antigua & Barbuda Falcons in this CPL, Joseph has picked up eight wickets in six games this season. 

1. Wanindu Hasaranga 

Wanindu Hasaranga completes the list of former RCB players who are part of the ongoing season of the CPL. Hasaranga is playing for the St Kitts & Nevis Patriots this season and has picked up two wickets this season. 

Meanwhile, he played for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru between 2021 and 2023 and picked 35 wickets in 26 matches over the three seasons.
