Top 5 highest individual scores by England batsmen in ODI cricket

England all-rounder Ben Stokes stuck the highest individual score by an England batsman in ODI cricket.
Ben Stokes, who reversed his white-ball cricket retirement only recently, went on to smash 182 runs against New Zealand at The Oval and helped England reach 368 runs in the third ODI. He came into bat in the third over as England lost two wickets early and went on to score a massive century. England's 368/10 is the second-highest all-out total in men's ODI.
The previous record was set by Jason Roy against Australia in 2018 at Melbourne. As Ben Stokes surpassed Jason Roy's previous highest individual score of 180, here are the top five highest individual scores for England in ODI cricket.

5. Jos Buttler - 162* vs Netherlands in 2022:

Jos Buttler's unbeaten 162 came against the Netherlands in 2022. England toured the Netherlands in 2022 and played three ODIs. The team won all three matches convincingly and the first match witnessed them make a massive total of 498 for 4.
After losing Jason Roy early, Phil Salt and Dawid Malan added 222 runs for the second wicket. After Phil Salt departed for 93-ball 122, Jos Buttler smashed 14 sixes and 7 fours to finish with 70-ball 162*. He added an 184-run stand with Dawid Malan and helped the team reach 498 for 4 in their 50 overs. In reply, Netherlands managed only 266, losing the match by 232 runs.
4. Robin Smith - 167* vs Australia in 1993:
Robin Smith's impressive 167* came in 1993. The England batter took 163 deliveries to score an unbeaten 167 against Australia in 1993. The knock witnessed 17 fours and 3 sixes as well and it came in a 55 overs match. Robin Smith came to bat early in the innings after England lost Alec Stewart for a duck. Smith added important partnerships with middle and lower-order batters to help the team reach 277 for 5 in 55 overs.
In reply, Australia reached the total within 54 overs and won the game by six wickets. Mark Waugh was the top scorer for the team with 113 runs.
3. Alex Hales - 171 vs Pakistan in 2016:
Alex Hales was the first England batter to cross the 170 mark in the Men's ODIs. He mustered 171 runs from 122 balls and the knock witnessed 22 fours and 4 sixes. After losing Jason Roy early, Alex Hales added a 148-run stand with Joe Root. The latter notched up 85 runs while Jos Buttler (90* off 51) and Eoin Morgan (57* off 27) also scored half-centuries to take the team to 444 for 3.
2. Jason Roy - 180 vs Australia in 2018:

Jason Roy held the previous highest individual score by an England batter before Ben Stokes took over. Roy smashed 180 from 151 balls against Australia in Melbourne in 2018 during their tour to Australia.
Batting first, Aaron Finch led the Australian innings from the front with 107 runs and helped the team reach 304/8. In reply, Jason Roy smashed 16 fours and 5 sixes for his 151-ball 180. He added a 121-run stand with Joe Root, who made an unbeaten 91. Roy helped the team to win the match by five wickets.
1. Ben Stokes - 182 vs New Zealand in 2023:

Ben Stokes dominated the New Zealand bowling attack on Wednesday (13th September) as he smashed 182 runs from 124 balls in the 3rd ODI at the Oval. England were reduced to 2 for 13 initially by Trent Boult. However, things did not go New Zealand's way as Dawid Malan and Ben Stokes took the game away with an impressive 199-run stand.
Ben Stokes went on to smash 15 fours and 9 sixes and got out to Ben Lister while trying to get past backward square. This was the fourth century for the England all-rounder and his previous best was 102*.
