Here we take a look at the top five Indian batsmen who have most sixes in test cricket.

Test cricket is a game of skills for every player. The five-day long game is one most exciting and most tough format of the game. Hitting a six is one of the most exciting element of cricket and with the advent of T20I cricket and several short-forms of the game, batting has evolved. Test cricket started 138 year ago and plenty of changes have happened since then apart from one textbook style of play while facing a bowler in this format of the game

Still team India had a battery of aggressive batters in their camp in test cricket history who went on to get maximum advantages of playing conditions. From Kapil Dev to Rohit Sharma there are several names who have done exceptionally well in terms of stroke play in the test cricket. Let’s have a look at the top 5 Indian batters with most sixes in test cricket.

5. Ravindra Jadeja – 64 :

Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja is fifth leading six-hitter in test cricket for India. Ravindra Jadeja made his test debut December 2012 against England. He began his career as a bowling all-rounder, but slowly transitioned into a batting all-rounder. Jadeja has so far played 71* test matches for India. With the ball, he has scalped 291 wickets, while with the bat, he has scored over 3000 runs and hit 64* sixes.

4. Sachin Tendulkar – 69 :

Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar was the one to break Kapil’s record for India in test cricket. In his 24-year long cricket career, Sachin Tendulkar played 200 test matches and smashed 69 sixes in tests. Sachin has been one of the most disciplined batter for India in international cricket. He is also the leading run-scorer in the longest format of the game with 15921 runs.

2. MS Dhoni – 78 :

Former Indian captain MS Dhoni is third leading six-hitter for India in tests. MS Dhoni started his career with a bang and batted with aggressive intent but soon the maturity hit with the responsibility of captaincy. MS Dhoni finished his 90-match test career with 78 sixes. He scored 4876 runs at a magnificent average of 38.09 batting mostly at number 7.

2. Rohit Sharma – 80 :

Current Indian captain is also in the tally with 80 sixes in tests. Rohit Sharma has been on a six-hitting spree in international cricket since a couple of years. Rohit has recently broken the record of smashing most number of sixes in international cricket as well as completing 300 ODI sixes. Rohit Sharma has so far scored 3900+ runs in 57* test matches.

1. Virender Sehwag – 91 :

Former Indian opening batter Virender Sehwag was known for providing fiery starts to Indian team. Sehwag’s fabulous strokeplay without much footwork has kept him at number 1 position in terms of hitting most sixes for India in tests. Virender Sehwag played 104 test matches for India and has smashed 91 sixes, he scored 8586 runs in his 12-long career form 2001 to 2013.
