Five Indian cricketers who won't get a spot in playing XI in the Asia Cup 2023

Rohit Sharma will lead the 17-member India squad for the upcoming Asia Cup 2023.
Finally, the Indian selection committee has named a 17-member squad for the upcoming Asia Cup 2023, which will be played in Sri Lanka and Pakistan. The tournament will start in a week’s time on August 30, while the Men in Blue will play their first match on September 2 against Pakistan. The committee, led by Ajit Agarkar, made some big decisions during the press conference.
They brought back KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer in the team, who were out of action due to injuries. The squad already had the likes of Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan, and debutant Tilak Varma. India have picked three spinners and six pacers, including Hardik Pandya. Now it will be interesting to see who will get the chance during the tournament and who won’t.
Here we will talk about five players who might not get a game during the upcoming Asia Cup 2023
1. Suryakumar Yadav:

When it comes to T20I cricket, there is no one in the world that can match the ability that Suryakumar Yadav brings to the table. But he hasn’t been able to carry that form in ODIs, which is why even fans don’t want SKY to play in ODIs. With an average of 24.33 in 26 ODIs, his numbers are not that encouraging. Adding to that, the return of Rahul and Iyer can sideline him from the playing XI in the coming tournament.
2. Tilak Varma:

The start of Tilak Varma’s international career has been amazing, which is why he is the only debutant in the squad. The left-hander made his debut in the T20I series against West Indies this month and was India’s highest scorer. But with already senior players available in the team, it looks difficult for him to make his ODI debut in this Asia Cup 2023.
3. Axar Patel:

The pitches in Sri Lanka will offer a great deal of spin, which is why every team has picked a number of spinners in the squad. India have also picked Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, and Axar Patel as three specialist spinners. Jadeja will be the first-choice spinner in the team on any given day. Meanwhile, Kuldeep has shown great form in recent games and has replaced Axar in the playing XI. So Axar might have to sit out the coming Asia Cup 2023.
4. Ishan Kishan:

Ishan Kishan has been the first-choice wicket-keeper in the team since Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul have been out of action. He also had good performances in the ODI series against West Indies, where he scored three consecutive half-centuries. But with Rahul back in the side, it will become difficult for Ishan to feature in the playing XI. He is a top order batter, and India have confirmed that they will not make any changes in the top order going forward.
5. Prasidh Krishna:

With six pacers available on the spinning pitches, India are likely to go with three pacers and two spinners, with Hardik Pandya as a pace-bowling all-rounder. The return of Jasprit Bumrah means he will be leading India’s bowling attack, and Mohammed Shami is also a certainty. Then there will be a fight between Mohammad Siraj, Shardul Thakur, and Prasidh Krishna for the place of third seamer in the team. Shardul has an added advantage with his batting, while Siraj has been India’s leading pacer in the last 12 months. It means that it will be hard for Krishna to get a game in the Asia Cup 2023.
